Kind to my sensitive skin

5

Ok I’m a sceptic at the best of times when it comes to electric razors. I’ve spent a fortune in the past on products clamming to be able to work with my very sensitive skin. All have disappointed me and I have felt each purchase in my pocket. The Braun Series 5 promises to protect my sensitive skin with its comfort flexhead that has 8 directional movement designed to minimise pressure. It has two ‘SensoFoils’ that are sensitive to skin also and is equipped with a middle trimmer that deals with difficult hairs. The head of the Series 5 has an auto sensing motor that adapts to your hair. My favourite feature is that this razor is 100% waterproof so can be used for both wet and dry shaves as well as in the shower or even the bath. So now you know what it’s supposed to do here are my thoughts. I had low expectations for this razor having never found an electric razor that didn’t leave my skin sore and bleeding. It’s a simple and sleek design with only three hand activated features. The first is the on and off switch and the next situated just above the first is a locking switch that holds the head of the razor in one fixed position or releases it to move freely as you move the razor about your face. The last finger activated feature is a precision trimmer on the rear of the razor for those hard to reach places. I used it first in the shower with a few days growth the razor did well and seemed far better than I expected. It was smooth and easy. Since my first use I have used it every 48 hours and feel like this is the best method for me. I’ve not suffered any bleeding or soreness at all. The charge lasts well with a full charge after every 5 shaves. The shave is not as close as it is with a wet shave razor of course but let’s get real here, this was the best shave I have had with an electronic razor. The sensitive shave is the best part. I was expecting to supper a raw neck and days of pain but it glides over the most sensitive areas of my face like a hot knife through butter. Over all this is a great razor that is kind to my skin while offering a great close shave and charges in one hour. What more could a guy ask for?

Good for a quick shave

Probably the best electric shave iv had. If used every day gives a good clean shave. I have very course hair and found it struggled with more than a days growth. Still prefer a good old fashioned wet shave for going out but for work days when in a hurry this shaver is top notch.

This product is amazing. Used wet or dry gave me a close shave equal to any razor. With sensitive skin electric shavers have alway left me itchy, sore and red but not this one so gentle leaves you feeling so clean and fresh. Charged in next to no time and cleaning was very simple. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Rough and not ready

2

This razor is not worth the full price they are asking for in the shops - it leaves you rough and no matter how many times you repeat going over it still leaves you rough and not ready. If you need just a quick shave then this razor is good enough for that but as for looking good and ready for work/going out I’d reach for a normal razor and wet shave. I’d probably take it on holiday when your sitting round the pool and a quick shave is all that’s needed.

Braun Series 5 Wet & Dry Electric Shaver

5

First of all, I use a mix of wet and dry shaving methods, depending on my mood and/or available time. I already own a Braun Series 9 electric shaver but never dared use it in the shower. However, when i received this Braun Series 5 Wet & Dry electric shaver I put caution to the wind and gave it a go. Firstly, it feels strong and sturdy, it is a well engineered piece of shaving kit. Looks wise, well it looks like an electric shaver, but you know it will do a good job. The buttons seem responsive and the trimmer slide on the back is sturdy, as you would expect from Braun. When it arrived it had no charge but within 5 minutes of charging I was able to commence my first wet shave in a shower with an electric shaver. I went the whole hog and used some shaving gel as well. What I found definitely impressed me. With a couple of passes over each area my three day stubble had gone! There was no tugging and the whole shave was a joy. Don't get me wrong, nothing will get quite a close as a fresh razor but this was pretty close, plus i didn't cut myself, something that usually happens when the morning caffeine hasn't kicked in. Upon getting out of the shower i did notice a couple of small areas I had missed under my chin (operator error) but this was soon rectified. Would I use this again? Yes, definitely! However, I personally still like the idea of using a razor but i'll keep that for special occasions. What this Braun Series 5 electric razor has done is to give me a reason to spend longer in the shower, much to the chagrin of my long suffering wife!

Almost a convert!

I have always been a manual shaver as I have never had much success with electric shavers and the Braun Series 5 5140s has almost converted me. I have quite thick stubble and every electric shaver I have tried previously has left me with excessive razor burn and seemingly more hair than when I started! I have used this now for several days and found if used every day the results are very good with a nice close shave. The only issue I have experienced so far was when trying to shave after a couple of days growth over the weekend; I found it slightly struggled to get a close shave and took longer than usual to get good results. I have always used it as a wet shaver and have so far experienced no razor burn which was a welcome surprise! The Braun Series 5 5140s has so far had excellent battery life and is very easy to use. The blade gets close without pulling and the moving head makes it easy to get to difficult areas. All in all, I expect it to be very useful as a complimentary item to manual shaving. It is the closest I have found to something that could replace it day to day and will certainly save me money on replacement blades.

Good dry shaver if you shave daily

So I'm a sensitive guy... well at least my face is. I've always struggled finding a shaving option that doesn't make my face feel like I've just taken a blow torch to it. In an effort to avoid my face looking like a beetroot after shaving, I've tried all sorts of different options wet shaving, dry shaving, dry shaving with face cream & most recently beard trimmers. So I feel pretty well placed to give the Braun Series 5 5140s shaver a well rounded review. As such, I'm going to review the Braun on 3 factors (speed, sensitivity & mess) that are most important to me. Speed (1/5)... the Braun & I got off to a shaky start. I hadn't shaved for nearly a week and, sadly, the Braun was no match for my overgrown stubble. Instead of cutting through my stubble, the Braun had a tendency to pull the occasional hair and had a habit of missing large patches. In fact, I abandoned the Braun and reverted to my beard trimmer to bring my stubble back down to a more manageable length. Once I'd done this, the Braun was much more at home. It dealt with the shorter stubble much more effectively and left my face feeling silky smooth. It does mean though that to get the best of the Braun, you need to stay on top of your stubble. One thing I found interesting was that, because the shave was so close (much closer than using my beard trimmer), I found myself obsessing over every missed hair. I think I must have returned to the bathroom half a dozen times to deal with rogue hairs. It's not the fault of the braun, and maybe more a reflection of my OCD, that such a close shave demands perfection with no hair left unattended. Sensitivity (4/5)... The Braun is a gentle mistress. Sure, my face felt slightly agitated for a few minutes following shaving. However, I'd expect that given how close the shave was. And after those few minutes had past, my face felt great. No burning sensation and I wasn't so red in the face that I looked like I was trying to break some sort of breath holding record. Mess (5/5)... One thing that really annoys my wife, after leaving the toilet seat up, is stray hairs littering the sink. My beard trimmer isn't great in this area and likes to fire my stubble around the bathroom meaning the chore of shaving is prolonged with a horrific clean up operation afterwards. However, this is where the Braun really excelled. Any stubble it didn't catch, which wasn't much, was dropped neatly into the sink. This made cleaning up a doddle. So in summary, The Braun Series 5 5140s is a very solid dry shaver. If you're the type of guy that likes a smooth, close shave on a daily basis then I'd definitely recommend this product. However, if you're prone to the occasional lapses in shaving routine then you're going to need another shaver to help do the heavy lifting.

Close Comfortable Shave

5

I decided to give a foil shaver a go as I have been using rotary shavers for some years and found them to pull on the longer thicker growth. I would normally leave a couple of days growth before shaving and was really pleased with the results I got from the Braun Series 5 5140s. I thought I would really put it to the test and gave it 3 full days growth and couldn't believe the results....NO pulling and really close, the moving head and foils are a great feature and made the shave really comfortable as they all move independently to the contours of your face. Couldn't be more happy with the results and would recommend to anybody looking for a shaver.

Good solid piece of equipment well constructed and well designed would appeal to young and old alike found it easy to use both wet and dry shaves. I wasn't constantly going over the same part of my face time and time again. The shaver is well designed and not bulky in any way the shaving head works well and reaches the more awkward contours of my face easy to clean out when finished shaving.

Braun series 5 review

This shaver was great. Far better than my previous shaver. The shaver looked professional, classy looking, and less bulky than I thought it would be when I opened the box. Charging was easy and the battery lasted for ages after the first charge. First I tried a dry shave, my face felt smooth and unlike my round-foiled previous shaver didn't pull at my beard when the hair was a little long and no redness on my sensitive skin. Cleaning with the little brush provided was again simple. A couple of days later I tried a wet shave, I felt a little apprehensive using something with a battery in the shower but a simple dry off afterwards and it looked new again and felt even more smooth than when I used it for a dry shave. This shaver is great and I'd thoroughly recommend this product to any man!!
