Silk-épil 5 - Corded Epilator

I just bought Epil 5 type 5340 and literally just used it first time. I was amazed by this product and how it made my day! I am so happy that finally epilation is no pain to me!This product epilates almost without pain, which was most important thing to me. I still have my first epilator , which is also Brown and I used it for a whole 9 years and this unit it still working. It's only problem with this device is that I started feeling pain and thought it's probably too old I need a replacement. It is indeed that Brown technology amazes me how robust and long lasting it is. Also I noticed they did improved the design and some other details like you now can wash it under water! Anyway I definetly recommend Brown.

Just got the Braun epilator silk-epil 5. Unfortunately I was not happy with it's performance. It's doesn't pick up small hairs and even missed large hairs. I normally use an epilator, but decided to try out Braun's epilators. Unfortunately my experience with it is not good. It's not a powerful machine either.

I bought this eight months ago and it is just great! And the customer service team are so friendly and professional and work so fast to sort out any querries. Highly recomend it!

The SILK-ÉPIL 5 was adjustment to my regular grooming routine. The hair removal was a nice alternative to my regular waxing and chemical hair removal routine. In my own view, the corded epilator made it easy to epilate my hair in one go without having to recharge. Another plus was the fact that I could clean it under regular water, following the instructions in the booklet -this was is to read by the way. Another wonderful feature was the guiding light to make sure all the little hairs gone for my OCD complexities. I didn't have a need to use the attachment for facial hair, but I am yet to try to meeting my eyebrows as the attachment was small enough to do so. Again I see the light coming in handy here just to get rid of those pesky hairs. All in all I see this as a product that can use for the next two years. The only problem I can see for it, is perhaps the cord been a bit longer for easy manuvering.

Must admit I'm brand new to epilating and liked the look of the ice pack that promised a numbing sensation. I read various review of the Silk-Epil 5 online and was impressed with what people had to say about it. So with much excitement and a touch (ok maybe more) of nervousness I sat down to try the epilator.My first disappointment was with the plug, it has a two prong shaving plug with needs an adaptor to fit a normal plug. Yes they are cheap and easy to get hold of but that's not much consolation when you've sat down in your pants ready to epilate your legs. Thankfully I was able to find one in the house and continue.The instructions aren't the best, they seem scattered over the pages and in no obvious order.The numbing pad does make a difference but not for long. I found it soon 'defrosted' and made no difference. I don't know if that is because it's summer or a design fault but it was slightly disappointing. However I found if I used it for the first 'patch' it took the shock away and I was able to continue with the rest of my leg without it.The instructions mentioned using the roller top if you were new so I tried that on the gentler setting. Vibrations were loud but that didn't bother me - just turned the TV up! However I soon turned it up to the other setting as I found it kept missing patches. Maybe I'm too fast running it up my leg (after countless years of shaving) because I kept having to go back and redo areas. The light is a great touch and helps you see the smaller hairs.The sensation itself is similar to getting a tattoo, a sharp pulling twinge that you soon get used to. And the instructions that say do it on recently shaved hairs are right - it hurts tons more on week old or longer stubble.The blotches that appear on the skin after the first use soon go away and only faintly appeared second time. Would recommend doing it on an evening so skin can calm over night.Despite the good points and running it over my legs several times I still find patches a day or two later and the claim it'll pick up a hair the same size as a grain of sand seems unrealised. It's definitely got me into epilators, thought it'll be a while before I brave underarm and bikini, and I'll be getting another when this one gives out.Can't honestly say I'll get this definite model again though, it has so much going for it (such as been wonderfully light, easy to hold, been a wired product which I prefer as it means it won't cut out halfway through and coming with plenty of accessories and a handy drawstring bag, but I found it doesn't pick up all that well. Maybe that's my method and there's a knack I need to learn but for now it's disappointing that it takes at least half an hour per leg then I end up fixing patches the next day.

Took me a long time to pluck up the courage to actually try this as I had been told that it hurts. I thought it was fab that the product comes with a cooling glove (essentially an ice pack) that you put in the freezer two hours before use and you can use it to almost numb the skin before epilating and cool after epilating. The epilator also comes with different head adapters for different body parts, and has 2 speed controls. This is particular useful as a beginner when you are not ready to be quite so full on straight away. I used the epilator on my tummy and my legs and the experience it's self was not as painful as expected. However it was still a little uncomfortable but no more than any other hair removal i.e waxing. Saying this, I have not yet been brave enough to epilate more sensitive areas. My skin felt great after, really was very smooth and the epilator really did remove every little hair. I had to drag the epilator in many different directions over my skin to do this as my hair grows in different directions. I have tried this twice since and have had a good experience both times. It takes no more time than shaving would, but the results last a lot longer. I found I got better results if I fully exfoliated before epilating, but still had good results without. Overall, found this product brilliant and have not stopped telling everyone. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and my hair grows very fast so this product is a godsend in that sense. If you can get past the initial fear that I had, it's definitely worth it!

I was scared of using it to start off as I thought it was going to hurt. It didn't hurt ONE bit! It felt smooth against my skin and removed the hair well. I was very happy with how it worked! I like how it comes with a little brush to brush off the hair around the top part.

This would be a brilliant epilator if it worked all the time. There's something definitely not quite right with the one I have as it suddenly cuts out & it take a lot of wire wiggling & switching on & off to get it to restart. ( tried it in all sorts of sockets, so know it's not me!!) Braun support have been good at getting it to their service department, but they can't find a fault at present, so are sending out a new cable - fingers crossed that cures the issue as when it works, it's brilliant!

I thought the product was fantastic. I have never used an epilator before as I feared the pain. Although it did hurt a bit to begin with it is bearable and with each use the pain become less and less. The light is a great feature as you can see any fine hairs you would otherwise miss. It's great that it comes with various different heads to use in various different places. The only reason I rate this at a 4 is because I think the product would be a whole 5 star's if it had a rechargeable battery pack so you would be able to use it where aver you like. I would definitely recommend the epil-silk5 to anyone new to epilating or just wanting to upgrade their current epilator.

When the box was unpacked, everything was neatly put in. The first time I tried it on my arm and I found it very effective as I had just recently shaved my arms so the hair length was not long. Another advantage is that it has two options effective or gentle. So if your in a hurry then to turn it to the effective side. The facial cap worked wonders when I epilated my face. I didn't have to go through any section again. and then the cooling pack with the glove was instantly calming to the skin. Only disadvantage I would say that when it is off charge it doesn't work, so only works when plugged in. Overall a great experience and a wonderful item that is handy for women every day. Recommended to all.
