Braun IPL Silk·expert Mini PL1114 Long Lasting Hair Removal

[This review was submitted after receiving an incentive ( free sample).] I was given the opportunity to test the Braun IPL silk- expert. I am unlucky to be quite hairy so this was amazing for me. The instructions are really clear, you must shave the area first so I did that before I recorded the video. I have to say I was quite nervous incase it hurt, but I felt nothing. Low noise levels, It was really easy to glide up the leg, pressing the button to make the flash light. It didn’t take very long to do. After application there was no iteration or redness. I have also tried it on my top lip and chin area ( menopause!!) this did feel a little stinging but wasn’t painful. I will repeat the application in a few days and will update later with the results. The product is really easy to store due to its small size. I’m really impressed with the product and whilst it is expensive I would definitely recommend.

I decided to try the Braun Silk·expert Mini (PL1114) because I wanted something that wouldn’t take up half my bathroom cabinet and was easy to use. The "Mini" Advantage Don’t let the size fool you—this little device is powerful. Because it’s so light, I don't get hand fatigue halfway through doing my legs, which was a major concern for me. It’s also incredibly travel-friendly. If you’re someone who spends a lot of time away from home, this is probably the most practical option on the market. Does it actually work? The box says you’ll see results in 3 weeks, and while I was skeptical, I actually started noticing the hair growing back much slower and finer around the 4th session. • The "Zap" Factor: It’s surprisingly gentle. There’s a warm sensation, but the SensoAdapt technology is brilliant—it reads your skin tone and adjusts the intensity automatically, so you don't have to guess which setting to use. • Eye Safety: A huge relief for me was that it's eye-safe. You don’t need those bulky protective goggles; as long as the window is flush against your skin, it's safe to use. What to Expect • Time: Doing a full leg takes about 10–15 minutes once you get the hang of the "glide" motion. Underarms take about 30 seconds. • Consistency is Key: You have to be diligent about doing it once a week. If you skip weeks in the beginning, you won't see that "one year of smooth skin" they promise. • Suitability: Like most IPLs, this works best if you have a high contrast between your skin and hair color (light skin/dark hair). The Extras The inclusion of the Venus razor and the pouch makes it a complete kit. It’s nice not having to go out and buy anything extra just to get started. Final Thought: If you want a no-fuss, compact, and effective way to ditch the razor for good, this is the perfect starting point. It’s a bit of an investment up front, but the time you save not having to shave every other day is totally worth it.

With all treatments of this type- you must ascertain your skin tone and hair colour are suitable for treatment (see photo attached). Patch tests must be done in advance to ensure your skin is sutable. The unit emits a special light when it flashes that will only treat hair as indicated in their safety manual. It will NOT TREAT white or grey hairs. In my kit, I received:- The hand-held mini unit with moulded on power pack; A flex with moulded on plug; A disposable razor and blade; Storage /Dust cover bag A very detailed instruction manual This unit is very comfy to hold. It's the mini of their range, so it's great to access all areas necessary. The unit, when plugged in, starts immediately. It has a blue light. Please note : NEVER look directly into the treatment window section when powere is on! Position the head onto clean, dry skin - Free from all lotions/potions/fragrances, etc ; Hold the button. If correctly positioned, then the light shows pink for each "flash." I like this unit as , being on mains, you hold the button, and it's ready to treat an area by holding the button down. There is no need to wait for the unit to refresh each flash. Also, it's ready to use immediately. there is no need to wait hours to charge the battery. Once bin use, a "press and glide" action means it's so easy to use and will treat larger areas [full leg, full arm] in a matter of minutes. So quick! So easy! As with all ipl systems , they need to be used regularly for several months before capturing the correct growing stage of your facial/body/pubic hair areas for successful hair reduction. Generally once every 4 weeks for a minimum of 12 weeks to capture active growth cycle of hair. My overall disappointments with this unit : The unit is mains only with an extremely short flex [approx half a metre]. I was perched at the edge of my bed. The power unit section is very heavy; very uncomfortable. No ON/OFF switch, which is just odd for a specialist piece of expensive equipment; There are no additional treatment windows for different body areas. Overall, using this unit for a minimum of 4 weeks, I already have improved hair reduction of baby hairs on my cheeks/jawline. I have coarse white hormonal growth hairs on the ole chin. These need epilation to remove. My final thoughts. Excellent technology in an improved, easy to handle unit. If you have the budget , I'd recommend looking at their rechargeable cordless unit for premium treatment at home.

[This review was submitted after receiving an incentive ( free sample).] I’ve left writing my review until almost the end of the trial dates to get the full effects of the braun IPL. The pictures of my legs show pre- shaving and 3 weeks of weekly usage- there is about 4/5 hairs in sporadic areas which I must have missed when using the “zapper”. I’ve been using it weekly for 4 weeks, I’ve used in my face, legs and arm pits. I’ve not shaved my arm pics in two weeks and my pcos facial hair is no longer visible. I would recommend using it on your most sensitive areas first as when it warms up it gets a little stronger I feel, but it’s not painful and doesn’t take long to do at all. It’s super easy to Use and can be used almost everywhere on the body. I’m amazed by the results however I have very fair skin and dark hair and it states it works best on that combination. A huge recommendation for the product and I’m going to keep this up!

The noise isn’t loud , it’s easy to use although I can’t see me using it again as the nipping and burning is a bit much for me .

No more shaving - after only few procedures my body hair is less and the hair is growing thinner. It’s also perfect for people like me who have light to medium skin and light hair.

Not noisy at all just a little fan running. Shaver included to clear area first. Just press the button and it emits a flash, light shines on the device to let you know shin tone its detected. Husband complained of no pain and he has a really low threshold so this does not hurt at all. Cant really comment on long term effects as more sessions are needed.

Consistent use and it really truly does work. I recommend it! It would make the perfect christmas gift. I don't find it painful to use, and as long as I shave properly I don't experience any skin discomfort! I love that I don't need protective eyewear but I wouldn't encourage looking at the device whilst using it. The process is faster each session as you get used to using it so quickly. Great small device I wish I had years ago, thanks influenster!
