I'm a bit of a flirt when it comes to razors - I've used a number of different brands of electric razor over the years, foil and rotary, and every now and then I'll turn to the wet shave for a change. The Braun 5140s Wet and Dry shaver is at the top end of the electric razors I've used, and boy is the difference obvious! Out of the box there is the shaver itself, the usual cleaning brush, protection cap and power cable (I always seem to lose the protection caps after a few trips with my electric shavers, so I'm going to have to work on that or keep this one safely in the bathroom!). Anyway, you have the basics (I believe there is the option to pay a bit extra and get the shaver with a charging base if you prefer that). I don't know how many languages most people know, but the instruction booklet includes plenty of them (so clearly this is a product that travels the globe looking for a home). Having read the instruction, much of it was common sense. Charging takes an hour for almost the same time in use. The shaver is totally waterproof (so nice and easy to clean under the tap - probably best not to go diving with it though). It has a removable head (no shaver stays sharp forever sadly) which can be left to move freely or locked into set positions if you prefer. So to the shave. As you'd expect for the price, this is not a shaver that is going to leave you with an unwanted designer stubble. Its as close a shave as any electric shave I've ever had (but lets face it, nothing electric ever gets as close as a barber wet shave - anyone telling you different is fibbing), and (as I mentioned at the start) when I fancy a wet shave, I now have the option of the old blade or the Braun electric to have a wet shave with the soap - nice! The product blurb says that the shaver uses technology to read the beard and adjust, giving that closer, smoother shave. The detail of that goes over my head, but the closeness of the shave is very noticeable. There is the usual slide up trimmer for those who like sculpting a beard (I don't, so that for me is used just to get the even cut on the sides and the odd nosehair). To round up, a quality product, smooth and close wet or dry shave that really is worth the extra few pounds over a run of the mill alternative, and waterproof so you won't actually destroy it when it gets its head wet. I highly recommend you give it a go.

The razor is very well designed with a great locking feature which is great with the children around. I love that you can use wet or dry and with shave foam/gel. My only criticism is that for my job I need to shave every day however this does not give a clean enough shave for work in that no matter how much I try it always misses a few hairs or doesn’t cut quite short enough. Ideal for the weekends as it’s a break from a standard razor.

When 1st came to use it I hadn't shaved for a few days so it was having to handle more than just a little stubble. When this razor I was able to go from that length of facial hair to nearly clean shaven in 1 go. It didn't get all of those pesky harder to get areas in 1 go but it did pick them up the next day.

It looks good and I was very impressed how quickly it cut 90% of the hairs definitely quicker than my current electric razor however it took ages to get the last 10%. Overall I was reasonably happy but if I bought this razor before my old model broke I would be disappointed.

Having used several different brands of electric shaver including a series 3 Braun which lasted several years before it gave up the ghost I was itching to give this new series 5 shaver a try to see how it compares. This shaver has worked brilliantly and gives a very good close shave with the minimum of effort and hassle, it is even much easier to clean as with the touch of a button the head pops open and as it’s a wet and dry shaver I can simply give it a rinse under the tap. It also charges up very quickly and lasts absolutely ages before needing to charge it back up again. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this device and have done so to friends who enquired asking how I got on with it, definitely recommend anyone gives it a try.

I am a Braun razor user so was excited to see how things have changed I have got a Braun series 7 but it is at least 8 years old. After unboxing this razor u can see and feel the quality of it. I left it on charge that day and didn't get a shave to give it a real hard job to do my beard grow fast am the sort of guy that needs a shave twice a day if I'm going out in the evening. So the next morning I had two days of stubble and I must say wow it made easy work of it if anything it worked better than my old series 7 razor does of it I had shaven in a matter of minutes. I have been using it for over a week now and it does a very good job every day this razor can be used for a wet shave but haven't tried it. Over all i would Deffo recommend this razor for the price which is a lot cheaper than my old series 7 razor it does a better.

Using this every day has left my skin smooth and clear. The shaver is loader then the average and has a good weight. Long battery life and perfect rotating speed. To make this product even better I would recommend instructions in english. Design wise this shaver is sleek and easy to use. With a trimmer at the back and the ability to lock the head making shaving a breeze.

Thi is the second Braun electric razor I have tried and this has many good benefits from the previous one I had had. I very much like the fact that Li-Ion batteries have been fitted to this shaver which means a one hour charge gives a run time of about 50 minutes. This shaver can be charged from the charger or via the Clean and Charge Station. In the hand, the shaver feels comfortable and well balanced plus it incorporates a slide up precision trimmer – I like the fact the trimmer is part of the device rather than an attachment. The shave is both easy and comfortable. The “8D Flexhead” really does follow the contours of your face, the head pivots forward and back plus the foil head floats so there are two forces at work to accurately follow the contours of your face and neck. The motor power is continually adjusted several times a second via “AutoSense” - this is most noticeable when the shaver is used say, on your neck rather than your main growth on the sides of your face.

Always concerned of the fact my face and ‘I’ have never got on with Electric Shavers previously, and have taken two weeks using the product to give an insight into my experience thus far. Started with a day’s growth, the 5140 performed really well, seemed to complete the job in super quick time with little effort or multiple passes across the face, and to my surprise with little after effect of rashes to the area, which normally ensues after shaving. So really pleased 1 to 2 days’ worth of growth it worked faultlessly. The real test came in week 2, decided to wait 5 days to give the shaver a thorough and stern test, it did take longer as expected as the neck area needed a lot of attention to clear any hair, but it still did a great job, the only downside and as expected was a little bit of shaving rash, which soon calmed down with a splash of cold water and some moisturiser. So far overall it’s been a delight using the Braun, I must say it’s well designed, charges quick, easy to clean, and above all does what you want from a shaver it works perfectly well in dry or wet conditions, and leaves you feeling smooth for the day ahead, perfect if you work in an environment that demands smart appearance. Which kind of matches the look and feel of the 5140 In the past I have been wary about purchasing electric shavers thinking they are too cumbersome, slow and overall a pain, when you can just pick up a razor. However using the Braun 5140 for the past 2 weeks has been a joy, I would highly recommend it, it’s converted me and it’s a great and easy start to each day, and if you’re really skilful you can shave and brush your teeth at the same time, that’s how easy this thing is to use! Don’t be hesitant give the Braun a go, you really won’t be disappointed, if you want a shaver that ticks all the boxes you will not be let down.

The Braun series 5 wet and dry shaver is a good looking, quality built shaver. As with all men i took it straight from the box put the Braun on charge. The Braun has a stunning electric blue light which shows it is charging or is on. With the first shave it did not seem to follow the contours of your face. My fault not the Braun. A BIG TIP check out the instructions. After the first shave i read the instructions, By pushing a switch up on the front of the Braun this allows the head to tilt giving you a close shave with the head tilting to the shape of your face. The side burn trimmer is small but easy to use and gives a good cut. The Braun needs emptying after every use. The stubble collector is easy to release and a quick tap empties the collector after a dry shave. Overall a nice close shave. A little tricky under the nose and the Braun is loud
